Cecelia Jurgens

Cecelia Jurgens is best known for her contemporary paintings and the use of colour and light. Her inspiration comes from nature and the effects of light. She enjoys working in the diverse mediums of watercolour, acrylic and pastel.

Jurgens is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour. She is also an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.

Through extension programs with the University, many artists’ workshops and participating in peer groups, Cecelia has always worked hard to hone her artistic abilities.
For many summers Cecelia has enjoyed leading outdoor on location ink and watercolour sketchbook workshops. In June 2004 Cecelia began teaching artist sketchbook tours, starting with a two-week sketchbook workshop in Italy – touring Rome, Tuscany region and Umbria Region. In September 2005 she taught a two-week sketchbook workshop in England. In 2006, she did a similar project in South America and has led subsequent tours in north Africa, France, and other parts of Europe as well as Canada.

Working as a full-time artist, she has her own studio in her home in Saskatoon.
